Dudak
The duduk is an ancient Armenian double-reed woodwind, carved from aged apricot wood, known for its warm, mellow, and hauntingly expressive timbre. With its wide reed and cylindrical body, it creates a voice that is at once intimate, plaintive, and deeply emotional.
In films & soundtracks: Its evocative voice has resonated in scores such as Gladiator, The Passion of the Christ, Alexander, Syriana, Munich, Ararat, Hulk, and more.
A poetic touch: The duduk whispers the tales of ancient hills — a flute that mourns, consoles, and stirs the soul, singing with the voice of memory itself.
Fun fact: In 2008, UNESCO inscribed the duduk and its music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
