This is a Native American style flute in the Aeolian scale. The Aeolian mode is also known as the natural minor scale. It is made of Black Limba, an African exotic, that has excellent tonal qualities, similar in density to alder. The end caps and abstract block are walnut, a beautiful contrast. This scale is beautiful and kind of haunting. It can sound medieval or mid eastern, and often has an extended high octave range. Take a listen to the video to hear an example of this beautiful scale! It produces a clean and vibrant sound quality.
Furthermore, many people believe that it is impossible to achieve an extended high octave range on this type of flute, but if you know what you’re doing, it can be possible. \
One of these available flutes has 1 3/4 octaves and the other has a full 2 octaves!
